An international conference on the fight against terrorism is hold in at the initiative of the Swiss Chairmanship of the OSCE. The Conference brings together the national counterterrorism coordinators of the OSCE participating States, as well as representatives from civil society and academia. Three main topics arein focus at the two-day conference: 1. Addressing kidnapping for ransom; 2. the question of ensuring legality, transparency and accountability in the fight against terrorism and 3. the issue of foreign fighters. The Head of the FDFA, Didier Burkhalter, opens the Conference in his capacity as Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE. Closing the conference, the Swiss OSCE Chairmanship presents recommendations intended to provide a starting point for further discussions within the OSCE on combating terrorism.
