International Geneva

Switzerland is committed to International Geneva as a unique place where humanitarian and humanistic values intertwine with innovation and a strong ecosystem. By investing in infrastructure, security and political backing, it is consolidating Geneva's role as a multilateral hub, where solutions to global challenges are developed and concrete contributions to peace, stability and prosperity are made.

The world order is in upheaval – and so too is International Geneva as a multilateral hub. Financial constraints, geopolitical tensions and competition between locations are putting pressure on multilateral cooperation and also on Geneva's international status. But Geneva remains a unique place where the world comes together to develop solutions. Here, humanitarian and humanistic values and priorities (e.g. international humanitarian law, human rights, rule of law, health, working conditions) are combined with innovative strength and a unique ecosystem of over 40 international organisations, representations of around 180 states, hundreds of NGOs, and scientific and private actors.

The promotion of peace, human rights and the rule of law – principles that are enshrined in the Swiss Federal Constitution – are negotiated and developed on a daily basis in International Geneva.

Switzerland is strengthening Geneva as a hub of multilateralism – through modern infrastructure, a secure framework and political backing. It is investing in Geneva as a place of dialogue and solutions – where human rights are put into practice, new ideas for the digital future, health and climate are developed, and global crises are tackled together. A strong International Geneva is an investment in our common future, making an efficient and effective contribution to peace, security and stability in the world, creating jobs and added value, and boosting Switzerland's influence.
