Switzerland is strongly committed to sustainability. The principle of sustainable development is enshrined in the Swiss Federal Constitution. The Federal Council’s Sustainable Development Strategy 2016–2019 does not contain only domestic policy measures. Successful implementation of sustainable development requires greater coordination between domestic and foreign policy. This is why Switzerland is strongly committed to the issue through bilateral and multilateral cooperation at the international level. The ‘sustainable embassies’ dossier presents measures implemented by the Swiss embassies to improve sustainability and aims to encourage other actors to emulate them. The dossier is part of the Swiss contribution to the implementation of sustainable development at global level, particularly the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement.
