OSCE Chairmanship 2014

Switzerland’s Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in 2014 was evidence of the country’s commitment to stability in Europe and neighbouring regions – one of its foreign policy priorities. The Swiss Chairmanship was guided by the motto «Creating a Security Community for the Benefit of Everyone».

OSCE Ministerial Council 2014

The annual meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council was held in the Basel Congress Centre from 4 to 5 December 2104. The 2015 meeting will be held in Belgrade, capital of the current OSCE Chair, Serbia.

Civil society parallel conference

An OSCE Parallel Civil Society Conference took place for the fifth time from 2 to 3 December 2014 on the margins of the annual meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council.

OSCE Conference in Bern on the protection of human rights defenders

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has drawn up guidelines to ensure better protection for human rights activists.  Some 100 specialists from the OSCE participating States met in Bern on 10 and 11 June 2014 at the invitation of the Swiss OSCE Chairmanship to launch these guidelines.

  • During its Chairmanship year, Switzerland gave young people a voice and the opportunity to become more involved in the activities of the OSCE. Within the framework Model OSCE, young people were given the opportunity to get to know the organisation better and to negotiate a «Youth Action Plan» for the OSCE.

  • The Swiss Federal Council has given a positive assessment of Switzerland’s Chairmanship of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in 2014.
