The handbook, created by Switzerland and six Partner States, emphasizes the benefits of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for the peaceful settlement of disputes and aims at facilitating the access to the ICJ for interested States. The handbook contains examples of declarations for accepting the jurisdiction of the ICJ that may be used and adapted by the States at their discretion.

Presented in the form of a glossary of terms, the ABC of International Law provides explanations of the most important concepts of international law. The glossary is preceded by an easy-to-understand introduction to international law.
In 1997, Switzerland ratified the International Convention on the Elimination of All Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). This year, Switzerland will submit a report to the relevant UN committee in New York on the status of implementation of the Convention. In an easy-to-read brochure, the FDFA and the Federal Office for Gender Equality (FOGE) explain the new law.
