Health issues are discussed at the Geneva Health Forum – the SDC is there and supporting the conference.

The Geneva Health Forum will take place from 15–17 April 2014 in Geneva, under the banner of «Global health: interconnected challenges, integrated solutions». The conference will bring together health-care professionals from the field and experts from the strategic sector, facilitating new areas of discussion. A web platform and working sessions will also be included. Federal Councillor Alain Berset will make the opening speech on 15 April.

Health in fragile states and malaria
The SDC will have a stand at the forum, where it will provide information materials on its health programmes. Two working sessions will be led by the SDC: one on strengthening health-care systems in fragile states, and one on malaria. The latter will be carried out in conjunction with Roll Back Malaria, an international partnership attached to the World Health Organisation (WHO). The programme is part of the Swiss Malaria Group, which the SDC founded and coordinates. Malaria is one of the SDC’s global priorities.

Presenting results
The Geneva Health Forum will provide the SDC with the opportunity to share its results at an international gathering and discuss them with health-care professionals from different countries. As the venue for the forum and location of the headquarters of various international organisations working in the area of health, including the WHO, the ICRC and UNAIDS, Geneva is also contributing.

The conference is being organised by the International Division of the University Hospital of Geneva. The SDC has been co-funding the Geneva Health Forum, which takes place every two years, since its inception.
