Relations with European countries

The quality of Switzerland’s relations with the EU member states influences relations with the EU as a whole, just as Switzerland's relations with the EU affect its relations with individual member states. Switzerland makes use of regular contact with EU member states to explain its EU policy. Relations with those of its direct neighbours that have great influence within the EU are especially important.
