The President of the Confederation, Micheline Calmy-Rey, will make an official visit to Italy on 1-2 June 2011. On 1 June, she will meet the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi.

The discussions will include topics such as cooperation between the two countries in economic matters, transport and migration, as well as other areas. Questions concerning taxation will also be addressed. Following a review of the bilateral files, the President of the Confederation and the Italian Prime Minister will discuss current international issues.  

On 2 June Mrs Calmy-Rey will attend the ceremonies in Rome to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy at the invitation of the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano.
