The Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), Federal Councillor Micheline Calmy-Rey, participated in talks in Stockholm on 13 May to which her Swedish counterpart Carl Bildt had invited a number of representatives of European states that do not belong to the European Union.

In the perspective of Sweden’s Presidency of the European Union beginning in the second half of 2009, Sweden‘s Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt invited the representatives of a number of non-EU states to an informative meeting in Stockholm. Switzerland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheline Calmy-Rey was among the participants.

The two ministers also used this opportunity to hold a bilateral meeting. The Swiss foreign minister exposed Switzerland’s position on the current issues in it’s relations with the EU to her counterpart. Moreover, various international issues were discussed.
