On 24 November 2009, Federal Councillor Micheline Calmy-Rey, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), received the Foreign Minister of Liechtenstein, Dr. Aurelia Frick, for an official working visit in the Von-Wattenwyl-Haus in Bern. This is the first formal meeting between the current Foreign Minister of Liechtenstein and Federal Councillor Calmy-Rey.

The talks focused on current international and bilateral developments, including the UN and other international bodies as well as questions concerning international financial centres and tax issues.

In addition, the Foreign Ministers discussed EU policy, including Schengen/Dublin, policy on the EU, the European Economic Area and EFTA, the Swiss presidency of the Council of Europe, as well as bilateral questions including the agreement on the allocation of organs for the purposes of transplantation, the treaty on environmental taxes in the Principality of Liechtenstein, and other questions.  

The visit took place in a cordial atmosphere, highlighting the excellent neighbourly relations between the two states and pointing to their continued positive development.
