Global Forum Migration and Dev. 2011

The goal of the GFMD is to contribute to more policy coherence on migration and development at the national, regional and global levels and to strengthen the capacity of States to address migration and development opportunities and challenges more effectively. It is the responsibility of the Swiss Chair to organize the 2011 GFMD. The absolute commitment of SDC/Global Programme Migration and Development to the Global Forum aims at getting more evidence on migration linked to development to design more relevant programmes and policies and give value to these at international level. In contributing to the improvement of practical knowledge on Migration and Development and in ensuring diffusion of some best practices, the GFMD creates a condition for governments to be better informed, take more coherent decisions and better cooperate to make migration work for development. Doing so, the GFMD contributes to a progressive shift to a new paradigm: the global approach to Migration
