Core Contribution to Kooperationsgemeinschaft (KoGe) 2025-2028

KoGe is an umbrella organisation whose mandate is aligned with the SDG 16+ framework (peaceful, just and inclusive societies). With its faith-based member organisations of protestant background that are deeply anchored in the Swiss society, KoGe empowers disadvantaged people and provides improved food security, education and health. It also strengthens communities in peacebuilding and conflict transformation.

Hintergrund The international environment is characterised by numerous multiple crises. The consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the escalation in the Middle East, food insecurity, debt buh den and inflation,c limate change and the energy crisis are all having a direct impact on the world's population. They particularly affect the most vulnerable, mostly women and children and result in increasing humanitariann eeds. Acceleratedc hange is accompanied by increased uncertainty: The world is becoming more fragmented, unstable and unpredictabIe. Whilst the vision to reach the Sustainable Development Goals remains, challenges including the global food and nutrition crisis, shrinking civic and humanitarian space, the erosion of rule of law, intensifylng armed conflicts, more frequent climate-related disasters, international migration and internal displacement, exacerbated demographics and an important gender gap hamper progress in reaching them and pose a main challenge for all actors engaged in Switzerland’s International Cooperation. The marginalised and vulnerable people KoGe works with are particularly affected by such crises. These developments confirm KoGe’s approach to further integrate development work, peacebuilding and humanitarian aid.

Resultate des Engagement der Organisation der vorangehenden Phase Results from the previous phase met or exceeded expectationsK. oGe’s SDG 16+ programmer eached nearly 2.1 million people from 2021-2023. It contributed to reducing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) among more than 217’000 persons. Mainstreaming of SGBV prevention helped to reach conservative groups while male participation in prevention activities rose from 32% in 2021 to 45% in 2023. More than 1 million people benefited from quality primary health care. 153’000 people successfully completed their basic education or vocational training. Supporting psychosocial health and promoting selfconfidence were key success factors for effective education for marginatised people. Leave no one behind (LNOB)-transformative programming is growing and becomes visible for example through improved access to basic services for marginalised people and a more detailed understanding of exclusion factors, especially in education and health programmes. From 2021-2023, at least 93’000 persons were informed and trained on rights. The activities contributed, e.g. to increased political participation of women and higher enrolment rates of girls in vocational training. In addition, KaGe member organisations (MOs) were strong promoters of community mobilisation strategies. In Kenya e.g. self-help groups successfutly claimed the rights of people with disabilities, registering them officially and managing to obtain benefits.
Resultate des Schweizer Engagement der vorangehenden Phase Local partner organisations (LPO) were trained to participate in political processes, to do advocacy and to contributet o policy dialogues. Examples of results includey outh participation in committees at different governmental levels. KoGe MOs and LPOs contributed to the passing of laws, for example in Indonesia for the better protection of children and women against violence. KaGe MOs and LPOs increased their collaboration with governments around the world, with a focus on collaboration at local government level. A new development witnessed in 2023 was the ability ofwell-trained LPOs to deliver reliable data to Government institutions that are confronted with a lack of specific national data. In Cameroun, a LPO developed a national database to register peopIe with disabilities in order to fight the lack of visibility of this segment of the population. Also, to face the challenges related to working in fragile contexts, KoGe has invested in conflict-sensitive programme management( CSPM) throughout 2021-2024. These investments strengthened risk management among KaGe’s members and their partners.
