The Migration and Forced Displacement Section aims to enhance the safety, well-being and livelihood prospects of vulnerable and disadvantaged migrants, their families, and the communities they live in.
Migration and Forced Displacement
The Migration and Forced Displacement Section works along three strategic lines: safe labour migration, inclusion and social cohesion, and migrants’ contribution to sustainable development.
The section:
- fosters migrants’ access to decent work and protection along the entire migration cycle (safe labour migration).
- promotes the access of migrants, including displaced persons and host communities, to inclusive basic services and socio-economic inclusion opportunities, especially in urban contexts (inclusion and social cohesion).
- encourages migrants’ contribution to the sustainable development of their countries of origin through the transfer of remittances, investments, know-how and social capital (migrants’ contribution to sustainable development).
