Swiss cooperation with Eastern Europe assists countries of the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia in building social market economies and in strengthening democracy and the rule of law. Switzerland's contribution to selected EU member states is helping to reduce economic and social disparities within the European Union.
Cooperation with Eastern Europe
The cooperation with Easter Europe ("transition") assists countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia in promoting the rule of law, democracy and the social market economy, and in strengthening civil society. Switzerland is therefore helping to restore stability in these countries and improving the prospects of people living there. Switzerland's efforts are focused on the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia), Moldova and Ukraine, the South Caucasus (Armenia and Georgia), and Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan).
