
Ambassador Schmid expressed his excitement about participating at the opening of a new chapter of Nestlé’s innovative business ventures in Serbia. He mentioned Nestlé’s outstanding commitment to the protection of the environment as demonstrated by the investments in waste water treatment and recycling solutions at the existing production site. He emphasized that industrial production could only be successful in the long term if it was sustainable, and this required acting with responsibility.
Switzerland ranks among the largest foreign direct investors in Serbia with a total accumulated amount of more than 1.7 billion Euros and creating over 12.000 jobs. Switzerland is also currently celebrating 30 years of bilateral cooperation with Serbia, being also in this regards among the most important bilateral donors. The Swiss parliament has recently decided to continue supporting the modernization efforts of the Serbian government. The Swiss cooperation strategy rests on three pillars: fostering effective and democratic governance, supporting economic development and employment and assisting Serbia in tackling climate change related challenges.
