Switzerland and Cyprus Launch Second Phase of Migration Cooperation
On 21 November 2025, Switzerland and Cyprus signed the Agreement for the second phase of their bilateral migration cooperation programme (PDF, 15 Pages, 478.8 kB, English) under the second Swiss Contribution. The agreement was concluded by Ambassador Hendrick Krauskopf, Director for International Affairs at the State Secretariat for Migration, and Dr. Nicholas A. Ioannides, Deputy Minister of Migration and International Protection.
Switzerland will provide CHF 10 million between 2025 and 2029 to support Cyprus in key areas of migration management. The agreement focuses on improving accommodation for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers, strengthening voluntary return procedures, and promoting early integration measures for asylum seekers and refugees.
This support forms part of the Second Swiss Contribution to selected EU member states facing high migratory pressures, with a focus on areas where Switzerland’s expertise can deliver added value. The second financial phase reaffirms the commitment of both countries to constructive cooperation and effective migration governance.
