Switzerland and Cyprus sign bilateral framework agreement in Bern
On the 31st of October 2022 Switzerland and Cyprus signed a framework agreement for the implementation of migration-related projects (PDF, 14 Pages, 1.2 MB) in areas such as asylum procedure, infrastructure as well as voluntary return and reintegration. The agreement was signed by Federal Councilor Karin Keller-Sutter and Minister of Interior Nicos Nouris in Bern.
The contribution of CHF 10 Mio. is part of the Second Swiss Contribution to support selected EU member states facing high migratory pressures. The Swiss contribution focuses on areas where the partner country has substantial needs and where Switzerland’s own experience and expertise can bring added value. Support measures under the Swiss-Cypriot Cooperation Programme are scheduled to begin in 2023 and run until the end of 2026.
