Support to the Climate and Clean Air Co-alition (CCAC)

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition is a leading global multistakeholder partnership bringing together states and intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations to jointly tackle the challenges of climate change and air pollution. Switzerland actively supports the Coalition, sharing its experiences garnered both nationally and through its international cooperation in order to assist low- and middle-income countries in implementing the most effective emission reduction strategies that yield multiple benefits for sustainable development.

Contribution to Swiss Water Partnership (SWP)

The Swiss Water Partnership is a multi-stakeholder platform bringing together Swiss organizations from the academic, civil society including youth, public and private sectors, to join forces and find innovative solutions for water challenges in developing and transition countries. Umbrella of Swiss water stakeholders at the international level, carrying the diversity of the Swiss voice, the SWP is an important complementary partner to SDC to accelerate the 2030 water agenda.

Contribution to the country office of UN Human Rights in Honduras (United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights)

UN Human Rights has established itself as the principal point of reference for critically positioning human rights in the public and political agenda of Honduras. It will continue to strive to provide protection of individuals and communities whose rights are at risk or denied, while also working to further develop institutions, laws and policies that effectively protect human rights. This will contribute to rule of law and providing the necessary framework for equitable and sustainable development.

FASL - Food-security and Agricultural Sustainability for Livelihood improvement

Poverty and food insecurity are widespread all over Afghanistan and even more accentuated after the political change after the takeover of the Taliban in August 2021. Therefore the support of the poorest farmers in the most remote areas by improving and securing their livelihoods is crucial in order to strenghten sustainable natural resources management and the communities’ resilience. It is interwoven with the humanitarian appeal of Aga Khan Foundation supported by Switzerland.

International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) 12 Core contribution 2022 - 2024

IFAD aims at transforming rural economies and food systems by making them more inclusive, productive, resilient and sustainable. During 2022-2024, IFAD plans lifting 68 million poor rural women and men out of hunger and poverty, en route to doubling its impact by 2030. IFAD is one of the 15 priority multilateral organizations of the Swiss international cooperation and shares its priorities of leaving no one behind; addressing issues of climate change, nutrition, gender and youth; and engaging more with the private sector and promoting innovation.

GVCD - Gaza Vulnerable Communities Development Programme

Through the Gaza Vulnerable Communities Development Programme, Switzerland contributes to covering basic needs and fostering social cohesion in the Gaza Strip. The successful intervention model applied in the 1^st Phase is extended and scaled up under this 2^nd Phase. Small infrastructure projects addressing basic needs of vulnerable communities serve as an entry point for a local dialogue on development priorities, enabled through building the capacities of both duty bearers and right holders, including youth and women.

Soutien aux acteurs suisses de la coopération internationale en éducation (NORRAG et RECI)

L’éducation joue un rôle clé pour les objectifs de l’Agenda 2030. La contribution aux deux institutions Suisses, le Réseau sur les politiques et la coopération internationale en éducation et en formation (NORRAG), institut spécialisé en recherche appliquée en éducation, et le Réseau suisse éducation et coopération internationale (RECI), réseau de la société civile engagé en éducation dans la coopération internationale, vise à renforcer leurs interventions dans les pays en développement et le positionnement suisse en éducation à l’international.

PACTA - Participatory Action Against Corruption: Towards Transparency and Accountability

In Bangladesh, Switzerland was instrumental in engaging likeminded development partners to support prominent local actors to curb corruption and establish transparent and accountable governance systems. This project, co-funded by Switzerland with the UK and Sweden, will continue the work on reducing corruption by engaging citizens, adding the use of an innovative digital tool for community monitoring. Based on the evidence collected on corruption incidences, the project will reinforce policy advocacy and engagement at different levels.

Rural Markets

The political and health crisis in recent years has affected the economic activity of the Family Production Units (UPFs, in Spanish), which is why their resilience needs to be strengthened. The market development approach, applied in phases I and II of the project, has proven its potential to solve major bottlenecks. In the last phase, the proposal is to consolidate and scale up the achievements in the market systems, as well as of the public and private services supporting them, focusing on knowledge management and sustainability mechanisms.

Support to Safe Spaces for Women, Youth and Children in Gaza Strip

Switzerland promotes social cohesion and civic peace through creating safe spaces for women, youth, and persons with disabilities in the Gaza Strip. By fostering local capacities and promoting community-led initiatives Safe Spaces strengthens the resilience of vulnerable groups. This second phase puts a stronger accent on skills and economic empowerment for youth in line with the Cooperation Programme 2021-24. By advocating for inclusive societies it contributes to mitigate the spread of extremism and radicalization.

OHCHR - Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in the oPt

This support to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in the oPt aims to contribute to promoting and protecting human rights in the oPt and enhancing prospects for Palestinians to live in dignity, prosperity and peace with the State of Israel.

Gulf of Mottama Project

The unique mudflat ecosystem of the Gulf of Mottama is one of the most important mudflat ecosystems in the world. Communities relying on it as a source of livelihood and the impact of climate change threaten its biological integrity. Building on Switzerland’s specific expertise in Southeast Myanmar, the project aims to conserve the wetland’s unique biodiversity, strengthen climate change adaptation and provide vulnerable communities with sustainable livelihoods and markets.
