UNFPA Contribution générale 2022-2024

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) works to address questions related to population and development, with an emphasis on sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, and youth. UNFPA is the only multilateral organization, which is engaged on a normative and operational level in promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights as well as gender equality and women’s empowerment. It is therefore a key partner for Switzerland to ensure progress on these joint priorities.

UN Women – General Contribution 2022-2024

UN Women is the UN entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. It was established to accelerate progress on meeting needs of women and girls worldwide. It coordinates and promotes the UN system’s work in advancing gender equality linked to the 2030 Agenda. UN Women is a key partner of Switzerland in ensuring progress on gender equality and SDG 5, a key objective of Switzerland’s strategies 2020-2023 on Foreign Policy and 2021-2024 on International Cooperation.

UNDP Contribution 2022 - 2024

UNDP’s key priorities, i.e. poverty eradication, structural transformations for sustainable development and conflict prevention, rule of law, governance and early response and recovery, gender equality, women’s empowerment, are in line with the Swiss strategic priorities as outlined in the Federal Council’s Dispatch to Parliament on International Cooperation 2021-2024. Beyond these thematic priorities, Switzerland will also focus its dialogue with UNDP and other member States on UNDP’s organisational effectiveness and transparency.

UNICEF Contribution générale 2022-2024

UNICEF is one of Switzerland’s key partners to achieve the Swiss strategic priorities in education, health and child protection in both development and humanitarian contexts. Switzerland has ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which guides UNICEF’s universal mandate. As one of the UN’s largest agencies, UNICEF plays a key role in the United Nations Development System (UNDS) Reform to more effectively deliver results for children as part of the 2030 Agenda. 


Decentralization and Municipal Support (DEMOS III)

DEMOS III will consolidate achievements of decentralised governance in the areas of policy framework and municipal performance. A grant mechanism rewarding municipalities for their good governance practices will be institutionalised with the aim to offer better quality services to citizens. The Association of Kosovo Municipalities (AKM) will strengthen its advocacy role and citizens will be engaged in the oversight. Funds will be pooled by Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, the EU and the Government of Kosovo.  


Improving National Animal Identificationand Traceability Systems (NAITS)

In Georgia, the livestock sector is dominated by small-scale subsistence farms, using common grazing and increasing the spread of diseases, which reduce productivity and farmers’ incomes. Switzerland has been supporting the authorities to introduce a digital system of animal identification and registration to improve health control since 2016. The system is operational, but further support is needed to ensure that it is effectively used and contributes to increasing competitiveness and farmers’ incomes.

ASPBAE - Contribution to Asia South Pacific association for Basic and Adult Education

Switzerland’s support of civil society organizations rests on the key role these play for reaching the Education goal (SDG4) of the Agenda 2030. The Asia South Pacific association for Basic and Adult Education is an influential civil society network engaged in the promotion of inclusive, equitable quality education and lifelong learning for the most marginalized in the Asia region as well as at global level. The Swiss contribution to ASPBAE strengthens the civil society at regional and global level and enriches Switzerland’s policy dialogue on education in the Asia Pacific region and globally.
