La Suisse accompagne des communes béninoises à travers la construction des infrastructures économiques et marchandes. Depuis 2013, le Programme de Développement des Infrastructures Economiques et Marchandes dynamise l’économie locale, renforce la capacité des collectivités territoriales, promeut l’entreprenariat local et valorise les matériaux locaux. La phase 3 réalisera 14 nouvelles infrastructures structurantes dans les 4 départements du nord et transférera les acquis aux acteurs institutionnels publics.

Média de communication de masse contre la stigmatisation

Le Burkina Faso est confronté à une crise humanitaire et sécuritaire qui ne cesse de s’aggraver, obligeant 1,8 million de personnes à fuir leur foyer. Ces déplacés sont majoritairement des femmes et des enfants exposés à une grande vulnérabilité. La Suisse soutient les médias et notamment 36 radios partenaires pour diffuser des informations humanitaires utiles à ces déplacés et leur donner un espace de parole. Elle soutient aussi le dialogue entre déplacés et communautés hôtes, luttant contre leur stigmatisation et renforçant la cohésion sociale.

More than three million people are currently internally displaced in Nigeria. They are facing extreme violence, collapse of livelihoods and violations of their basic rights. A coherent policy framework is essential to facilitate a coordinated response to displacement. With this contribution, the SDC supports the strengthening of institutional mechanisms and frameworks to realize the rights, dignity and wellbeing of vulnerable populations across all phases of displacement.
Renforcement de la résilience des populations vulnérables en Côte-d’Ivoire

De par son engagement dans le cacao durable (protection de la biodiversité, travail décent), la Suisse vise à contribuer à la réduction des vulnérabilités des enfants, des jeunes (filles et garçons) et des communautés de quatre régions de la Côte-d’Ivoire. Sa contribution à UNICEF se focalise sur les enjeux du travail des enfants dans le cacao, sur l’employabilité et la participation civique des jeunes, alors que celle au Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques vise la professionnalisation du métier d’agriculteur et la protection de la biodiversité.

Au Burkina Faso, l’ancrage de la gouvernance démocratique demeure encore fragile, avec des crises politiques et coup d’Etat récurrents. La Suisse renforce les capacités des principales institutions démocratiques et soutient le développement d’une culture démocratique par l’amélioration des capacités de veille de la société civile et des médias. Ceci doit permettre la mise en oeuvre de politiques publiques inclusives et de qualité, au profit des femmes et des hommes.
Health Promotion in Cabo Delgado

Cabo Delgado province’s morbidity and mortality incidence due to water-related disease and malaria is among the highest in the world. The program which builds on the results of the previous two phases, will improve the health conditions of the target population in the project districts though the provision of integrated water, sanitation and hygiene services targeting approximately 1 million women and men in Cabo Delgado. This will contribute to reducing the morbidity and mortality of the population, especially children.
Local Governance and WatSan Niassa

In the Province of Niassa, only 48% of the population has access to safe sources of drinking water and 29% to adequate sanitation infrastructure. The project will improve the living and health conditions of the rural population in the province by increasing access to and use of quality water, sanitation and hygiene services and health infrastructures. Reinforcing the links between health and water / sanitation will improve the health status of around 900’000 women and men in the province of Niassa.

Implementation Maputo Peace Accord

This project continues the support to the implementation of the Maputo Peace Accord between the ruling party (Frelimo) and the opposition party (Renamo) which was brokered by Switzerland in 2019. The priority is the Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reinsertion (DDR) of the 5'221 ex-combatants, which should be finalized by the end of 2023. This will be followed by a phasing out and handing-over of remaining aspects of the Accord to suitable government or other structures until 2024.

Central Asia: Gender and DRR Study 2022

This study will focus on understanding the relevance and influence of gender dynamics on Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) measures in Central Asia. It aims to garner practical insights that are useful to rendering Switzerland's and partners' work in the areas of DRM more gender-sensitive, and to explore the potential for DRM activities to have a gender-transformative impact in order to inform sustainable humanitarian and development interventions.

Bangladesh Primary and Environmental Health in Ukhia

Switzerland through the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) and its partners, contributes to improved personal and environmental health of Rohingya refugees and their host community in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar district. Aligned with one of Switzerland’s focus on human rights-based quality services in Bangladesh, SRC will a) be running five primary health centres and plan a sustainable takeover b) set-up a sustainable solid waste management, whenever possible c) and promote health literacy.
Myanmar: Fostering Food Security, Food Systems and Inclusive Business Programme (FOSTER)

COVID-19 and the military coup have had a significant negative impact on the food security and economic resilience of the people of Myanmar. FOSTER addresses both issues in an innovative way, engaging with the private sector and civil society in conflict and crisis-affected areas and combining emergency relief activities with longer-term market system and skills development initiatives, which is an opportunity for Switzerland to test new initiatives to stay engaged.

Disaster Risk Governance in Central America - Final phase

Central America is vulnerable to climate change and climate variability, as well as to other - geological - hazards that endanger the lives of nearly 10 million people and the economic development of the region. The program improves the governance of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and disaster response at the regional and national levels to increase the effectiveness of risk management in general to leave no one behind and save lives.
