WASH and livelihoods contributing to durable solutions for vulnerable, displacement-affected women, men, girls, and boys in Diyala and Kirkuk, Iraq

To facilitate durable solutions for conflict-affected persons in Kirkuk and Diyala, Oxfam in partnership with national NGOs will meet urgent WASH and livelihood needs and at the same time strengthen community resilience and socio-economic development. This will be achieved through an area-based, cross-sectoral intervention that pairs the delivery of WASH and livelihood activities with capacity building, advocacy, and policy work with local authorities and community committees.

Effective Community Engagement and Accountability in Northeast Nigeria

A large proportion of crisis-affected people in Nigeria’s Northeast continue to experience extreme violence, displacement and collapse of livelihoods, therefore largely depending on humanitarian aid. Access to information and two-way communication with humanitarian actors is essential for these populations. With this contribution, the SDC supports humanitarian actors to put the voices and needs of affected populations at the centre of their response to the crisis.

RDC Cordaid – Enhancement of the role of the INGO Forum

Humanitarian crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is among the most serious and complex in the world. However, humanitarian access is getting more and more precarious, due to security context deterioration and high politicization. The INGO Forum is committed to overcome or at least limit the impact of the diverse hindrances INGOs are facing in delivering humanitarian, transition and development assistance.


Strengthening Social Protection in Zambia

Switzerland aims to increase the resilience of poor and vulnerable households in Zambia by strengthening the government’s systems for managing and delivering social assistance to vulnerable populations.  Specific objectives are to make the payment process more efficient, increase domestic financing to social protection and equip the Social Cash Transfer programme to respond to climate-related and other shocks.

SDC will contribute to existing programmes of UNICEF and the World Bank.

Contribution to the UNICEF Sri Lanka Appeal 2022

In 2022 Sri Lanka plunged into a grave economic and political crisis. As a consequence, Sri Lanka was unable to procure basic supplies like fuel, medicines, fertilizer and food. The poor in particular are severely affected and suffering from hunger. Malnutrition among children increased rapidely. In May, OCHA launched a Humanitarian Needs and Priority Plan, and UNICEF launched a Humanitarina Action Plan for Children (HAC) to which the present Credit Proposal contributes.

«Bai Alai» Small Business and Income Creation in Alai and Chon-Alai

Alai and Chon Alai are two of the poorest regions in Kyrgyzstan. The project aims at increasing economic inclusion of producing households through increased income and employment, with the focus on women and youth. During this exit phase (III) the project capitalizes and disseminates good practices in apiculture and cattle, and continues activities handicraft and tourism value chains, until phasing out in May 2024.


Civil Society and State Engagement on Public Policies for Socioeconomic Transformation CSSPST

This programme aims to support Rwandan civil society organisations to actively engage with the Government on public policies for socioeconomic transformation. It will strengthen civil society ability to jointly and effectively undertake and follow-through advocacy on factual policy issues affecting the local population, hence contributing to the inclusive socioeconomic development and accountable governance in Rwanda and ultimately strengthen state-society relations.

Strengthening capacities of local responders to address Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

01.06.2022 - 31.05.2024

A large proportion of crisis-affected people in Northeast Nigeria have experienced violence, including gender-based violence (GBV), in a context where local service providers lack the capacities to adequately prevent and respond to GBV. Via this contribution, Switzerland supports the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in its efforts to address GBV in collaboration with academia, government and local civil society actors. This intervention also contributes to Switzerland’s commitment to the Call to Action on Protection from GBV in Emergencies (GBViE).

Réponse à l’insécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle intégrant la protection (RIAP) à Mopti et Tombouctou

Le Mali vie la pire crise alimentaire et nutritionnelle depuis 10 ans. 13% de maliens auront besoin d’assistance pendant la soudure agricole 2022. Les régions de Mopti et Tombouctou sont particulièrement exposées. Les attaques contre les moyens de subsistance des populations sont devenues une arme de guerre. La Suisse, en partenariat avec ACF-IRC et GC, contribue à sauver des vies et apporte une assistance alimentaire et nutritionnelle indispensable aux populations, tout en renforçant l'environnement protecteur.


Sustainable Inclusive Growth in Mountainous Armenia (SIGMA)

Through an innovative intervention using the market systems development approach, SDC aims to generate additional income and decent jobs in rural mountainous areas of Armenia, where agriculture and tourism are the main source of income. Together with private and public stakeholders, at the local and national levels, the project will invest in selected value chains by promoting inclusive, climate smart, and sustainable economic growth in its first phase until end 2026.


Georgia: Local Economic Development (LED)

In order to address regional disparities in Georgia, this local economic development project will foster effective collaboration between local and national actors, including those from the public, private, and civil society sectors to develop market systems in specific value chains. The project builds on earlier major Swiss engagement to support decentralization, and will stimulate the generation of additional income and job opportunities, while promoting inclusive and sustainable growth in local communities.

Ukraine: Emergency Dairy Inputs

01.06.2022 - 30.09.2024

The dairy sector in Ukraine has been badly hit by recent Russian military action. Hygiene during milking is critical to ensure food safety and to avoid potential diseases, and farmers’ ability to afford these has been disrupted. To re-establish dairy farms financial viability, milking hygiene aid will be provided through a time-limited liquidity injection into the system, benefiting farmers in the recently de-occupied Oblasts of Kyiv, Sumy and Chernihiv.
