Given the current circumstances, the Embassy of Switzerland and its consular services are operating at reduced capacity. Consular services will continue to be available for urgent and essential cases. In order to follow the recommended measures of social distancing, please limit your visits to the Embassy to appointments that have been scheduled in advance. Please contact us by e-mail to schedule your appointment.

Novel Coronavirus

The Swiss Federal Council, as a precaution with regard to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), has recommended that Swiss citizens cancel all non-urgent travel plans outside of the country. It has also called for all Swiss citizens and citizens of Liechtenstein who are on travel for business or leisure to return to Switzerland.

Presently, some airlines continue to offer flights from the USA to Switzerland and Europe. As the flight offerings change constantly, please contact the airline or your travel agent directly.  See current flight information (PDF, 56.6 kB, English)

Swiss citizens living in the United States of America are NOT mandated to return to Switzerland. The decision as to whether or not to travel to Switzerland is at your own discretion and your own personal responsibility. Dual citizens should be aware that U.S. citizens are required by law to enter and leave the United States with a U.S. passport. If you choose to travel, please register your trip on the Travel Admin App of the FDFA.

For travels to or via the Unites States, only the US authorities can give you information. Please contact the US authorities for immigration information. https://bit.ly/2WuHrsG

Please note: During this ongoing situation, there is no legal entitlement to organized departure. Swiss nationals or persons residing in Switzerland are requested to organize departure and return travel primarily independently and with the help of a travel agency or transport company. In doing so, detours and additional costs must be accepted. Due to current developments, the representations have only very limited or - depending on the situation - no possibilities for assistance with departure and onward travel from affected regions and countries.
