More Information

AIIB, ADB and Switzerland

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) opened for business on January 16, 2016. As one of the first Western European founding members of the AIIB, Switzerland has actively shaped the establishment of the new Chinese-led, multilateral investment bank. The AIIB mainly focuses on the financing of infrastructure (e.g. energy and transport sector) and of urban development. On the cusp of becoming fully operational, the AIIB is recruiting new staff in a variety of areas.

Since its establishment in 1966, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has committed $231.53 billion in loans to the vision of an Asia and Pacific region free of poverty. Switzerland has been among the first nations to join the Japan-led ADB and has contributed over $1 billion to the work of the bank. ADB’s mission centres on reducing poverty in Asia through inclusive and environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration.

In order to buttress further its unique position within the multilateral development community, Switzerland encourages qualified Swiss nationals with relevant competences and international experience to apply for positions within the AIIB and ADB.
