In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises. SDC funding to UNHCR operations allows the UN Refugee Agency to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance to refugees and internally displaced people in life-threatening situations and underfunded emergencies.

Il GFATM è una fondazione di pubblica utilità con sede a Ginevra, nata nel 2002. Il Fondo ha il compito di procurare e mettere a disposizione mezzi supplementari per prevenire e trattare l’AIDS, la tubercolosi e la malaria. Il GFATM funge quindi da organo finanziatore piuttosto che da organo attuativo e si avvale della cooperazione con i partner sul posto.

Le poids des collectivités territoriales dans la dépense publique ne dépasse pas 4 % en moyenne dans les pays de l’UEMOA. Pour améliorer la délivrance des services publics locaux, il faut donc combiner les actions à tous les niveaux (local, national, régional). En travaillant sur les zones transfrontalières, le programme vise un double objectif : faire de la décentralisation un accélérateur de l’intégration d’une part et d’autre part, s’appuyer sur les instances régionales pour renforcer les politiques nationales de décentralisation.

Water for Livelihoods (W4L) – Phase II

The project promotes equitable water governance for food and people in over 300 villages in semi-arid watercatchment areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (KPK). When organized in water user organizations, approximately 35-45% of households in the targeted districts will use water more carefully within revised frame conditions. These are jointly reformed with local governments and contribute to solving water conflicts more efficiently and peacefully.

Scaling Up Payments and Investments in Watershed Services to Address the Global Water Crisis

The project is fostering a paradigm change that could transform the way the world’s watersheds are valued and managed: investing in natural infrastructure such as wetlands, streams and forests that can capture, filter, and store freshwater is emerging as one of the most cost-efficient way to secure clean water and recharge aquifers, making a key contribution to global water security. Indeed, according to the recent SDC-supported report on the Global State of Payment for Watershed Services, the number of such initiatives has now reached 10 billion USD annually as governments urgently seek sustainable alternatives to costly traditional infrastructure, from mega-cities such as New York and Beijing, to small villages in Bolivia.

Centri ed esperti fitosanitari riducono le perdite di raccolto

Il programma Plantwise si prefigge di ridurre le perdite di raccolto per migliorare la sicurezza alimentare dei gruppi della popolazione rurali e poveri. «Cliniche per piante» decentralizzate e comunali aiutano gli agricoltori a riconoscere i parassiti e le malattie delle piante e a combatterli per tempo. Il programma sostenuto dalla DSC è realizzato attualmente in 34 Paesi in tutti i continenti e raggiunge già due milioni di contadini in tutto il mondo.

Dans le cadre de sa coopération internationale, la Suisse s’est engagée à faciliter l’accès des artistes et productions des pays en développement à sa scène culturelle. Le soutien de la DDC aux activités d’Artlink, centre de compétence suisse pour la coopération culturelle, est une pièce angulaire de cet engagement.

Sustainable Agricultural Models in the Romanian Mountain Area

The project was aimed at developing sustainable agriculture models in the Romanian mountains through integrating traditional activities in the modern economic environment in order to generate income, and preserve the cultural landscape with their high touristic value. The project targets sheep farming associations in North-Eastern Romania have been caring for the management of high mountain pastures.
