L’UNICEF figura tra le principali organizzazioni umanitarie e di sviluppo dell’ONU ed è il più importante partner della Svizzera nella protezione dell’infanzia nei Paesi in via di sviluppo e nelle aree colpite da conflitti. L’UNICEF, che orienta la propria azione sulla Convenzione sui diritti del fanciullo, si impegna a tutelare i diritti dei bambini, contribuisce a soddisfare le loro esigenze primarie e si adopera per fornirgli migliori opportunità di realizzazione del loro potenziale.

Contribution 2014 to the World Food Programme’s Immediate Response Account (IRA)

In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises. The contribution 2014 to the Immediate Response Account (IRA), a flexible funding mechanism, allows the World Food Programme (WFP) to respond proactively and to provide immediate food assistance in life-threatening situations and underfunded emergencies.

Switzerland has committed to the principles of Aid Effectiveness (AE) in Paris (2005), Accra (2008) and 2011 in Busan. The main focus will be improving Transparency, Aid predictability and Use of Country Systems and addressing the priority issues Results&Mutual Accountability, Fragility/New Deal, Climate Change Finance and Public-Private Cooperation in coherence with the Federal Council Dispatch 2013-2016. The focal point AE supports the implementation process within SDC in coordination with SECO/WE as well as with other national and international partners.

WFP - Food Aid Swiss Dairy Products (Sudan)

Through the usage of food aid in the form of Swiss dairy products, Swiss Humanitarian Aid contributes to the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, undernourishment, and disease. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid administers the credit granted by parliament for a yearly amount of some CHF 20 million destined for the purchase of Swiss dairy products and their use for the benefit of the needy. Its task is to ensure a sustainable, targeted, and closely monitored food aid.

Nepal Agricultural Markets Development Programme (NAMDP)

Semi-commercial small farmers, mostly cultivating less than 1 ha and often from disadvantaged groups, face significant hurdles to participate in agricultural product and input markets, thus failing to tap existing potentials to increase their production, farm income and well-being. Complementary to other Swiss projects, NAMDP will focus on market system development to foster market-led and inclusive growth of commercial agriculture, working with the production and marketing actors.

World Humanitarian Summit 2016

The WHS aims to set the agenda for future humanitarian action. In late 2015, the Secretary-General will issue a report including the findings and recommendations from consultations around the world. The report will be presented to participants for discussion and agreement on recommendations at the summit. SDC aims to support the WHS Secretariat (OCHA), host the global consultation leading to the Summit (end of 2015) and to contribute to the objectives of the WHS process.
