The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) is working on arthropods in agriculture, health and environmental issues. Arthropods are at the core of many development problems, but at the same time they offer a huge potential and opportunities for their utilisation (partial action A). With the greening concept ICIPE is minimising its carbon footprint and saves a large amount of money (partial action B); with the implementation of these measures ICIPE will become a flagship institution.

Quality assurance (QA) supports result orientation at SDC. Starting with a good planning process (achievable results, ownership by involved partners) the regular assessment of results while implementing helps to adapt programme activities in order to make effective contributions to partner countries’ development. Other important factors for effective contributions are thematic expertise, sound risk management or well managed partnerships. QA supports achievement of results defined in the Bill to Parliament 2013 – 2016.
