Swiss citizens who get into difficulties abroad, also can ask for advice and help from the Swiss representative.

The magazine for the Swiss Abroad appears six times a year and provides information about what is happening at home and the activities of Swiss associations abroad. It also answers administrative questions.

It is a privilege for me to represent Switzerland in Iran, a land that has fascinated me since I set foot in the wider region more than twenty years ago. Iran is a country with a long and rich history, as well as an amazing diversity of culture and people.

Please feel welcome on the website of the Embassy of Switzerland in Iran. I invite you to browse and discover information on all areas of the long-standing relationship between Switzerland and Iran, dating back at least to 1631 when Johann Rudolf Stadler, a Swiss watchmaker, settled in Esfahan. This website will also provide you with information on the Embassy’s services and activities as well as on Switzerland in general.

The Embassy is a service center for the Swiss community and for Iranian travelers to Switzerland. I invite Swiss travelers to consult our travel advice (de, fr, it) page before planning a trip. The services provided through the consular and the visa sections count among the important tasks of the Embassy. You will find all information pertaining to these matters on this webpage.

In the absence of diplomatic and consular relations between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Swiss government, acting through its Embassy in Tehran, serves as the Protecting Power of the USA in Iran, and has done so since 21 May 1980. The Swiss Embassy's Foreign Interests Section provides consular services to U.S. citizens living in or travelling to Iran.

Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships 2026–2027 – Application Guidelines

Dear Madam / Sir,

Thank you for your interest in the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Scholars. Kindly note the scholarship offer for 2026-2027 is online.

Applicants must register directly via the SERI website using the GO ESKAS tool. Applications must from now on be submitted online using the Grants Online ESKAS (https://www.go.eskas.ch/) tool. Paper applications will no longer be accepted.

Please study all the information on the website before filling out the application forms. Incomplete applications will not be accepted, and will not be sent to Switzerland.

Submission deadline for all applications (Research fellowship, PhD scholarship and PostDoc scholarship) is Monday, 10th November 2025.

In May 2026, the Federal Commission for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships in Berne will inform the applicants about the results directly by email. The Embassy of Switzerland in Iran has no information about the status of your application prior to that, kindly do not send email inquiries to this effect.
