Lecture
On the occasion of the FILLM Conference 2017 “The Familiar and the Exotic in Language and Literature: The Politics of Perception and Representation”, Prof. Babli Moitra-Saraf and Swiss author Oliver Scharpf will present a different perspective on the popular myths about Switzerland based on the latest book written by Scharpf – “The Chalet and Other Swiss Myths”. The plenary session will be chaired by Prof. Radha Chakravorty.

The exhibition encompasses artworks from the collection of Alice Boner Institute - once the home of Alice Boner- and Bharat Kala Bhavan - a museum which houses a permanent gallery on Alice Boner. It highlights the contributions of this pioneering artist and scholar of Indian art and art history who made Varanasi her home for over four decades of her life (1931-78).

The environmental Film Festival “Quotes from the Earth” highlights environmental challenges at the national and international level through films. Over a period of two days, it aims to bring under one umbrella persistent and persuasive films from India and around the world. This year’s seventh biennial edition is supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and will show as the opening film “More Than Honey” from the Swiss Oscar nominated director Markus Imhoof.

The consultation workshops would focus on having a discussion on potential climate change adaptation measures for Kullu district. This follows the development of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) based on a vulnerability and risk assessment and extensive consultations for adapting to climate change. Once operationalized the activity aims at demonstrating science based adaptation actions. The consultation workshops provides an opportunity for stakeholders to provide feedback before the DPRs are submitted by the Government of Himachal Pradesh to various national or international climate finance sources.
