Today, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) States – Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland – and India signed a Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA). The landmark agreement between India and EFTA is set to bring significant economic benefits, such as better integrated and more resilient supply chains, new opportunities for businesses and individuals on both sides leading to increased trade and investment flows, job creation, and economic growth.

The Embassy of Switzerland presented a new Swiss Art Night ‘SwitzerlandIndia in Bloom’ on October 13, to mark 75 years of the signing of a friendship treaty between Switzerland and India. The highlight of the evening was the floral art work by renowned Swiss artist Philipp von Arx, who for the first time in India, along with Indian floral artists, created floating flower clouds over the Embassy building and garden.

Switzerland is supporting India in its fight against COVID-19. Swiss Humanitarian Aid has sent several hundred oxygen concentrators and 50 respirators, worth about CHF 3 million (approx. USD 3.3 million), to assist hospitals in India.

Government of Gujarat enters into a Memorandum of Understanding with Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation supported CapaCITIES project to enhance capacities in adopting integrated climate resilient planning. Three separate MoUs were also signed with the cities of Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Vadodara, where the phase 2 of the project will be implemented. The MoUs were signed today in the presence of Ambassador of Switzerland to India and Bhutan, Dr. Ralf Heckner.
