The Embassies of Austria and Switzerland together with the Goethe-Institut Zypern jointly present a concert reflecting the tradition of classical music in Austria, Germany and Switzerland: Trios³

A trio formation of the bi-communal Cyprus Chamber Orchestra,

  • Nihat Ağdaç - violin
  • Gürhan Nuray - cello
  • Andri Hadjiandreou  - piano

will perform Beethoven’s Piano Trio in B-Flat Major, Op. 11 “Gassenhauer” (Germany), Schubert’s Piano Trio in E-Flat Major, D. 929, Op. 100 (Austria), and the 3rd movement of Joachim Raff’s Viertes Großes Trio Op. 158 (1870) (Switzerland).

Nihat Ağdaç began to play the violin at the age of 11 attending the Fine Arts Secondary School in Nicosia. He studied at Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory, at the Royal Academy of Music and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has played among others, in the London Symphony Orchestra, in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, in the European Union Youth Orchestra and in the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.

Gürhan Nuray studied at Hacettepe State Conservatory and received scholarships to the USA and Switzerland.  In 2006 he attended a cello master class in Switzerland. He performs as an extra player with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra since 2009 and is the cello section leader in the Nicosia Turkish Municipality Orchestra. He teaches cello at university level and as a member of the Cyprus Chamber Orchestra, he also plays for the bicommunal PapaGeorgio String Quartet.

Andri Hadjiandreou graduated from Rutgers University and holds a PhD in Performance Practice and Related Studies from the University of London. She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in various festivals across Europe and the USA, has worked with several renowned pianists and teaches at the Cyprus State Music Schools.

Both Natalie Neophytou and Nihat Ağdaç are founding members of the bicommunal Cyprus Chamber Orchestra.
