Humanisation of the Home for Seniors Frydlant

The project aims at providing a dignified environment for seniors in the “Home for seniors Frydlant nad Ostravici” by reconstructing 18 rooms, all building entrances and common sanitary facilities. In addition, qualified social workers will introduce modern methods of individualized work while doubling the therapeutic offer for residents, which will lead to the long-term provision of high quality social services.

Dopo la fine della guerra civile nello Sri Lanka nel 2009, la questione degli alloggi ha rappresentato un problema per le migliaia di profughi che hanno fatto ritorno nel Nord del Paese. La DSC sta fornendo abitazioni permanenti a oltre 5000 famiglie e misure di accompagnamento come la ricostruzione di infrastrutture essenziali per la comunità e il ripristino dei mezzi di sussistenza.

Prévention des grossesses à risque. Réduction de la mortalité maternelle et néonatale dans le Kanem

Mis en œuvre par Médecins du Monde (MdM), le projet cible les femmes enceintes, les nouveaux nés et les enfants de moins de 5 ans, avec pour objectif principal de réduire la mortalité maternelle et néonatale dans la région du Kanem. Il entend renforcer les services de santé de cette région afin qu’ils améliorent leurs prestations, particulièrement dans les domaines de la santé sexuelle et reproductive et de la santé infantile. Cet objectif est une priorité de la Politique Nationale de Santé 2007-2015 du Tchad.

Integrated Mine Action Intervention in Support of High Risk Communities in Northern Sri Lanka

Since the end of the conflict in northern Sri Lanka early 2009 huge efforts have been made to clean areas from explosive remnants of war in order to release the land for the safe return of the IPD’s. In 2012, still 118 km² are contaminated with mines and UXO’s. The FSD program contributes to the safe resettlement of IDP’s in their respective villages and agricultural land in order to rebuild their livelihood.

Civil Society Support Facility – Bridging Phase

The Civil Society Support Facility programme (“Civica Mobilitas”) aims at building a stronger civil society sector in Macedonia which will be able to promote dialogue across the divides in the country - be they of political, socio-economic, ethnic and increasingly religious nature. This programme will support Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) which promote inter-ethnic cohesion and oversee the work of local governments.

Nepal Resident Coordinator Office Support in Transition

This initiative is in line with SDC’s priorities both at a global level, regarding the UN coherence and improved response in post-conflict transition, and at Nepal level as the country is still in a critical phase of the peace process. The Transition support strategy (TSS) supports the strengthening of relevant actors in the peace process and the stronger coordination and harmonisation of development partners.

Contribution au Réseau Ouest et Centre

Le contexte ouest et centre africain est confronté à diverses faiblesses sur le plan de l’éducation de base et la formation professionnelle. A travers la production de recherches de qualité, le ROCARE est en mesure de formuler des recommandations opérationnelles. La diffusion des résultats de recherches auprès des décideurs et des praticiens du secteur est assurée par le Réseau qui restitue ses réflexions dans le cadre de forums. L’utilisation effective des recherches pour la formulation des politiques d’éducation/formation reste un défi. Le ROCARE est actif dans 16 pays dont les 4 pays DAO; les Bucos exploiteront les études et pourront solliciter le ROCARE sur des thèmes spécifiques

Improved Access to Human Rights for People in Bangladesh

Despite the establishment of a National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Human Rights (HR) violations are still very much present in Bangladesh, especially in the rural areas. The present project will make available funding to support the NHRC as well as the country’s leading HR NGO in their endeavour to improve promotion and protection of HR country-wide. The project is part of a joint undertaking of a consortium of like-minded donor partners.

UNICEF Emergency Response for Displaced Syrian Children

The ongoing violence in Syria has triggered a continuous increase in the number of displaced Syrians seeking refuge in Jordan. According to the UNHCR, around 29,0001 Syrians have been registered in Jordan. Out of them 50% are children. UNICEF, as the leading agency mandated to ensure the protection and assistance of children, appealed in June for urgent funds for their emergency operation for Syrian refugee children. The total amount required for the operation is US$ 14.800 million, of which US$ 9 million (CHF 8.6 million) are designated to meet the emerging humanitarian needs of displaced Syrians children and young people in Jordan.

Fattore determinante nelle rivoluzioni che hanno scosso i Paesi del Nord Africa nel 2011, la disoccupazione dei giovani dipende dalla loro difficile impiegabilità sul mercato del lavoro. Un progetto della DSC punta a sviluppare la formazione professionale in Tunisia. I giovani laureati in particolare hanno così l’opportunità di acquisire competenze pratiche nel corso di stage effettuati all’interno di «aziende di pratica commerciale». Visti i risultati positivi ottenuti, l’intervento della Svizzera è stato prorogato fino al 2020.

Support to UN-Water core budget is strategic to ensure economic, effective and efficient operations of UN-Water, strengthen its role in the global water governance, reinforce its position as a major actor with high level outreach capacity in implementing the agenda defined by the 2000 Millennium Declaration and the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development and in shaping up of the post-Millennium Development Goals’ water related discourse.
