On 26 February 2025, the Federal Council approved the Foreign Policy Report 2024. The report sets out the progress that has been made in achieving the 28 objectives of the Foreign Policy Strategy 2024–27. A special thematic focus section examines the influence of the BRICS group of states (including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) on the world order and outlines Switzerland's strategy for relations with those states.

Програма підтримки на 2025–2028 роки знаменує собою початок дванадцятирічного процесу федеральної підтримки реконструкції, реформ і сталого розвитку України. На засіданні 12 лютого Федеральна рада визначила пріоритети програми підтримки України, а саме захист цивільного населення, мир, економічне відновлення та зміцнення інституцій. До 2028 року з бюджету міжнародного співробітництва на ці цілі буде виділено 1,5 мільярда швейцарських франків. Відповідальним за реалізацію програми є Делегат Федеральної ради Швейцарії з питань України, посол Жак Гербер.

Support for reconstruction: Federal Council adopts 2025–28 country programme for Ukraine

The 2025–28 country programme marks the start of a twelve-year federal support process for reconstruction, reform and sustainable development in Ukraine. At its meeting on 12 February, the Federal Council defined the priorities of the country programme, namely protection of the civilian population, peace, economic recovery and strengthening institutions. CHF 1.5 billion from the international cooperation budget has been earmarked up to 2028. Ambassador Jacques Gerber, the Federal Council's delegate for Ukraine, is responsible for implementing the country programme.

Ukraine: The Federal Council adopts the 15th EU sanctions package

On 12 February, the Federal Council decided to adopt the measures of the 15th EU sanctions package against Russia. These measures will come into force on 13 February. On 23 December 2024, 54 individuals and 30 entities had already been added to Switzerland’s sanctions list against Russia.

Negotiating mandate for treaty with Ukraine

At its meeting on 29 January, the Federal Council approved the negotiating mandate for an international treaty between Switzerland and Ukraine. In the process of rebuilding Ukraine, this will provide a legal basis for increased cooperation with the Swiss private sector.

Швейцарія та Україна зміцнюють співпрацю для залучення швейцарського приватного сектору до відновлення та реконструкції України

23 січня 2025, Давос, Швейцарія – Сьогодні, з нагоди Всесвітнього економічного форуму, Швейцарія та Україна підписали Меморандум про взаєморозуміння у межах зусиль щодо залучення швейцарського приватного сектору до відновлення та реконструкції України. Угоду підписали Гай Пармелін, Федеральний радник, Голова федерального департаменту з питань економіки, освіти та досліджень, та Юлія Свириденко, Перший віце-прем'єр-міністр України, Міністр економіки України. Меморандум про взаєморозуміння передбачає, що Міністерство економіки України та Державний секретаріат Швейцарії з економічних питань будуть працювати спільно над відбором проєктів швейцарського бізнесу, спрямованих на закриття гострих потреб України. Документ є важливою віхою у співпраці між Швейцарією та Україною щодо відновлення та реконструкції останньої.

Через посилення російських атак значна частина українського населення страждає від відключень електроенергії та опалення. Швейцарія допомагає Україні впоратися з викликами зими, виділивши на це майже 45 млн швейцарських франків. Кошти будуть використані для відновлення енергетичної інфраструктури, ремонту пошкоджених будинків і задоволення нагальних гуманітарних потреб.

International appeal for humanitarian demining in Ukraine adopted in Lausanne

The first day of the Ukraine Mine Action Conference 2024 ended today with the presentation of the Lausanne Call for Action, which reaffirms the support of the majority of the countries present for humanitarian demining in Ukraine and around the world. The appeal calls for the needs of victims and disabled people to be addressed and promoting partnership and innovation to increase effectiveness in mine action. The conference, held in Lausanne at the EHL Hospitality Business School, brings together representatives of states, international organisations and partners in humanitarian demining.

Switzerland delivers 30 rubble-clearing machines and 30 fire pumps to Ukraine

Switzerland is organising a new shipment of equipment for Ukraine. This includes machines to clear rubble and debris, as well as firefighting equipment, which will be handed over to Ukraine's civil protection agency.The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) of the FDFA will finance and coordinate the transport. The Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) has donated the equipment, valued at CHF 5.6 million.
