The Embassy supports cooperation between Switzerland and the host country. In this respect, close contact with the respective ministries is important. Bilateral meetings organised by the Embassy are used to strengthen relations between Switzerland and the host country. 

The Embassy builds up and maintains a network of contacts with important circles for bilateral relations; drafts analyses and reports on developments concerning the host state's domestic and foreign policies of interest to Switzerland. It initiates, prepares, assists and supervises governmental, parliamentary and administrative level visits and those of public and private organisations; supports negotiation processes. 

Promotion of general international law, international humanitarian law, international criminal justice (fight against impunity) and international human rights law are at the focus of the Embassy work in international law and legal affairs. The representations follows up cases, provides information on local law and procedures regarding implementation of relevant provisions of international law and questions of reciprocity.
