Strengthening Democracy in Armenia: Switzerland launches 10-year project of CHF 9 million

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) launches a project "Democratic Institutions and Participatory Policies in Armenia" (DIPPA). An amount of CHF 9 million (around 10.5 Mio. US$) is envisaged for the period 2023-2033. The project budget is subject to a recurring review by the SDC of the feasibility of the project from an overall budgetary perspective. 


Switzerland invests 10 Mio. CHF for 10-year forest restoration project with Armenia

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) launches a 10-years project "Forest Restoration and Climate Change in Armenia” (FORACCA). An amount of 10 Mio. CHF (around 11.5. Mio. USD) is envisaged for the period 2023-2033, subject to a recurring review by the SDC of the feasibility of the project from an overall budgetary perspective. 



Cultural Projects 2023: My Home – Armenia in a Rapidly Changing World

In February 2023, the Swiss Cooperation Office in Armenia SCO called for creative and innovative project proposals, which contribute to the development of contemporary arts in Armenia with the slogan "My Home – Armenia in a Rapidly Changing World". With the call, the SCO invited artists to reflect on life in this difficult geographical place; on being Armenian in a cosmopolitan world; and on living today but with an open, potentially promising future ahead.

The Armenian law provides a number of channels to participate in politics. At the same time, inactive and low participation of citizens in decision-making processes is a significant challenge both for local and national levels. For example, according to the Open Budget Survey 2021, Armenia ranks considerably well in transparency (with a score of 61 out of 100) but, in contrast, ranks very poorly in public participation (with a score of 6 out of 100).

In April 2022, the Swiss Cooperation Office (SCO) in Armenia launched its "Arts and Culture Against the Crisis" campaign, in the aftermath of the Coronavirus pandemic and the 2020 War. Switzerland approves CHF 960’000 in aid for resilience and economic recovery of border communities in Armenia

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC has approved CHF 960’000 in aid for Armenia to improve border communities' resilience towards crisis situations. Partnering with the World Food Programme (WFP) for implementation, Switzerland provides immediate humanitarian and long-term economic support to Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Syunik with the “Resilience and Economic Recovery of Border Communities in Armenia – REBCA” project.

Call for Proposals: Local backstopper as facilitator – Recruitment

Switzerland, together with Austria and Germany, launched the main phase of the "Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia" MAVETA project to assist the Government of Armenia to reform the vocational education system in Armenia in agriculture. The intervention aims to improve the knowledge and skills of professionals and graduates in agriculture and related fields. Thus, the project will contribute to sustainable, climate friendly, inclusive growth, increased incomes and enhanced (self)-employment in rural Armenia.
