Indo-Swiss Collaboration in Biotechnology (ISCB)

In the context of increasing global challenges, rapid demographic changes, degradation of natural resources and impact of climate change, the Indo-Swiss Collaboration in Biotechnology develops innovative products with the aim to improve food security, sustainable and climate resilient agriculture. Swiss and Indian research institutions join forces in a partnership to develop products that are oriented towards market integration. Based on a long-standing partnership the new phase will particularly endeavour to focus research on farmers’ needs and to better integrate innovations in a value-chain approach.

Contribution to the programme of Swissaid

The SWISSAID programme aims at empowering poor rural populations to improve their livelihoods by ecological farming, income generation, enhanced access to natural resources and the ability to influence policies (and their implementation) having a bearing on their lives. In countries where revenues from extraction of mineral resources are available, the programme aims at empowering civil society organisations to ensure transparency in revenue flows and their application for poverty reduction and sustainable development.

Fighting diseases of poverty: Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi)

As one of the leading Product Development Partnerships (PDPs) worldwide, DNDi is acting in the public interest and to respond to patients’ needs to develop and provide access to treatments for neglected tropical diseases that primarily affect the poor and marginalised populations worldwide. DNDi’s business model is further characterized by empowerment of endemic country partners, international advocacy in support of a global framework for essential health, and delivery of health tools as public goods.

Communication/sensibilisation

L’art et la culture sont des éléments indissociables de l’identité et du développement d’une société. Avec le soutien de la DDC, le Festival del Film Locarno permet chaque année à une sélection de cinéastes d’une région du Sud ou de l’Est de se former, de trouver des partenaires et des ressources pour leur projet de film, et de montrer leurs œuvres dans l’un des dix plus importants festivals de cinéma au monde. Le partenariat de la DDC avec le Festival contribue ainsi au renforcement et à la diffusion des cinématographies fragiles du Sud et de l’Est.
