Partnership for Forestry and Fisheries (PaFF): Support to Forestry and Fisheries Communities in Cambodia

The final phase of the Partnership for Forestry and Fisheries is implemented by four NonGovernmental Organisations led by the Center for Forests and People - RECOFTC. It will support rural communities in managing their natural resources in four provinces. With SDC`s contribution and inclusive development, the communities’ economic, social and cultural rights will be enhanced through funding opportunities that improve their livelihoods and increase resilience to natural shocks.
Supporting the Security Sector Reform (SSR) Process in The Gambia

The Gambia, which is a priority country in regard to Swiss migration interest, initiated a national SSR process in 2017. Based on 3 years of in-depth research and support to this process, in 2021 DCAF launched a new program to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Gambian security sector. Through its contribution, Switzerland aims to improve the quality of services provided to local communities by the immigration department by strengthening its management and accountability.

2021 Population and Housing Census of Nepal

The goal is to support the Government of Nepal to conduct the 2021 census in line with international standards to obtain high quality data, reflecting Nepal’s social, ethnic, religious and linguistic diversity and which can be used to better respond to the needs of the different population groups. Given its track record and emphasis on federal state building, Switzerland has a key interest that the census is adapted to the federal context and gender equality and social inclusion principles are followed.

Access to Justice project in Tajikistan

This exit phase of the Access to Justice (A2J) in Tajikistan will solidify the free public legal aid system to vulnerable individuals with respect to their legal claims (e.g. child allowances, spouse support etc.). It will also entirely transmit the aid system to the state budget and to the institutional management by the Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan in order to achieve full financial sustainability of access to Justice for the most vulnerable ones.
Energising Development - Support to the Energising Development (EnDev) Partnership

Providing sustainable access to needs-based and climate-friendly energy services to households, health centres, schools, and small enterprises improves the livelihoods of beneficiaries through reduced indoor air pollution, improved access to information, enabling of revenue generating activities, and enhanced quality of public services, all while reducing CO2 emissions. Energising Development (EnDev) is an impact-oriented partnership of Switzerland and other donor countries supporting universal energy access.

Long-term support to UNRWA’s reform

Switzerland contributes to enable UNRWA to pursue key reform areas of its Medium-Term Strategy 2016-2022, mainly by supporting (i) management initiatives and set of actions to ensure that governance, accountability, management and transparency meet international standards, and (ii) the systematic integration and attention to the needs of vulnerable groups, in particular children, persons with disabilities and women survivors of violence.

COVID-19 Prevention and Resilience

The second wave of the COVID-19 virus has affected Bangladesh more intensely than the initial phase, impeding socioeconomic recovery and reiterating the importance of resilience building. This programme aims at engaging communities to curb the further spread of COVID-19 and enhancing socioeconomic resilience. Drawing upon Switzerland’s long-standing experience in providing rapid response and working on inclusive and sustainable development, it focuses on the disadvantaged segments of the population.

Rural Resilience in Southern Africa / R4 Initiative

The R4 Rural Resilience Initiative for Southern Africa enables smallholder farmers’ adaptation to climate risk through improved resource management, insurance, livelihoods diversification, microcredit and savings. Through R4, Switzerland has become a credible and trusted partner in resilience building and its learnings have fed into policy dialogue. The emphasis of this final phase is on strengthening government and private sector, as well as the gender approach.

The humanitarian situation in Colombia remains critical. Due to the ongoing and intensifying activities of ilegal armed groups, large numbers of people endure violence, live under threats and have to leave their homes temporarily or permanently. Bearing in mind the recurrence of humanitarian needs in the affected regions, the MIRE+ Consortium -supported by SDC- aims at contributing to durable solutions and better conditions for resilience. It develops integral responses that address humanitarian needs and also boost the recovery of livelihoods and improve the access to basic services.

Integrated Mine Action Program Phase 1: 2021-2025

SDC will continue supporting Colombia to meet its international commitment to be free of landmines by 2025 (Ottawa Treaty), thereby contributing to the Peace Agreement and the 2030 Agenda. The first phase (2021-2023) of the Mine Action Programme will assist mine victims and affected communities with demining operations, protection measures and socioeconomic recovery. It will also support authorities in leading and coordinating the Mine Action sector.

Cholera response International Federation of the Red Cross Country Support Platform

Cholera is a recurrent and deadly problem in many countries. Outbreaks of cholera will become more frequent due to climate change and ongoing rapid urbanisation. This proposal aims to support with a financial contribution the International Federation of the Red Cross’s Country Support Platform as an operational arm of the Global Task Force on Cholera Control, This proposal is the first phase of the 10 year program approved in the entry proposal 7F-10727.01.

MarketMakers (MM) introduces missing and strengthens underperforming market functions in the IT and Business/Knowledge-Process-Outsourcing (BPO/KPO) sectors in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). MM induces economic growth in private companies and contributes to create new and better jobs. MM further supports youth employment and entrepreneurship by improving conditions for self-employment, business creation and freelancing. This consolidation phase of MM will ensure further scale and sustainability of interventions.
