Contribution to the ICRC Climate and Environment Transition Fund

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is the main humanitarian partner of Switzerland. The ICRC Climate and Environment Transition Fund is designed to support climate and environment initiatives in ICRC operations worldwide. This will happen around three pillars: The ICRC will adapt its programmes, improve environmental protection in armed conflict and reduce its environmental footprint. Switzerland supports ICRC’s climate and environment transition by contributing to the Fund set up for this purpose.

Le conflit armé en République Centrafricaine continue de déclencher des mouvements de populations importants vers l'est du Cameroun. Ceux déjà déplacés n’ont pas l’intention de renter, alors que ces régions du pays ont un taux de pauvreté très élevé. Avec ce projet, la Suisse complète avec la composante de protection l'approche de graduation qui vise à sortir des populations de la pauvreté extrême ainsi réduisant les risques, les menaces et les vulnérabilités des populations ciblées de manière holistique.

The proposed support will contribute to sustainable peace, promote good governance and the rule of law, and create inclusive, just and self-sufficient communities. The fund will specifically focus on fragile and highly volatile areas in South Sudan.

SDC funding to the World Food Programme (WFP) operations allows WFP to respond proactively and to provide immediate food assistance in life-threatening situations. This additional contribution supports WFP’s emergency response to the harm and disaster caused by cyclone Batsirai in eastern Madagascar.
