Doggy Style, M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2016, 20-21 January 2016
Wednesday, 20.01.2016
Thursday, 21.01.2016
Cultural event
The Embassy of Switzerland is pleased to support the dance production “Doggy Style” by Swiss based choreographer Joshua Monten, which will be part of the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival on 20-21 January 2016. In his performance, non-verbal communication plays an essential role. The spontaneous movements of dogs are transposed onto the dancers’ body and mind and represent the uneasy relationship between the animal and their human companions. With the innovative mixture of dance, sign language, humanity and animality, the choreographer gives the audience an understanding of how fundamentally unequal and yet both rewarding and sustainable this relationship can be. “Doggy Style” is based on the detailed analysis of dogs’ behavior. To make sure, the imitation of their movements is as authentic as possible, real dogs were studied and even invited to participate in the studio rehearsals. For further information about Joshua Monten’s production and the M1 Fringe Festival 2016. please visit their website: http://www.singaporefringe.com/fringe2016/index.php
