Visit of Ambassador Matyassy to Singapore – 27 March 2015

Ambassador Johannes Matyassy, Assistant State Secretary for Asia/Pacific, visited Singapore on March 27. The purpose of his visit was the regular political dialogue between our two countries.  As a representative of the Swiss government, together with Ambassador Kupfer, he also attended the Lying-In-State at the Parliament to pay respect to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, the Founding Father of Singapore.

During his visit, Ambassador Matyassy met with several high ranking officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss questions of mutual interest in the Swiss-Singapore relations. He also visited the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), which is jointly funded by the Asia-Europe-Meeting (ASEM) member countries. Switzerland joined ASEM in 2012 to promote the cooperation between Asia and Europe together with the 50 other ASEM members.

Ambassador Matyassy continued his journey to Bangkok, where he represents Switzerland in an ASEM Senior Official Meeting.
