Ambassador-designate Patrick Egloff @ FDFA

This Embassy represents Switzerland’s interests in Nigeria, Chad and Niger. Switzerland’s bilateral relations with these countries are strong and diverse. The Embassy also follows the work of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Our work is guided by Switzerland’s Africa Strategy 2025-2028;  Foreign Policy Strategy 2024-2027 as well as the Swiss cooperation programmes with Niger and Chad.

Nigeria is of strategic importance to Switzerland, given its size, economic potential, primary resources and political weight. Both countries enjoy vibrant and friendly relations that have steadily grown in intensity over the last two decades, encompassing areas such as peace building; promotion of democracy; human rights; economy, vocational training; research and innovation; migration; humanitarian aid; culture and mutual legal assistance. The relations are nurtured through regular dialogues on political, migration and human rights matters.

The Consulate General of Switzerland in Lagos promotes bilateral commercial ties and supports Swiss companies operating in Nigeria; and the Swiss Nigerian Business Council in Lagos serves as an invaluable platform for facilitating trade, commerce and exchange of ideas between both countries.

Switzerland has enjoyed longstanding relations with Niger and Chad, in particular through the Swiss development cooperation. More recently, Switzerland has supported and facilitated dialogue both within these countries and beyond upon request of both governments.

This Embassy provides consular services to Swiss citizens in these three countries. You find more information on this website and do not hesitate to contact the Embassy should you need assistance. If you are a citizen of Nigeria, Chad or Niger and you plan to travel to Switzerland, please check the information regarding visa and entry requirements on this website at your early convenience.

For updated information on our activities, please follow the Embassy on @SwissEmbassyAbuja, Instagram and LinkedIn Profile, the Swiss Cooperation Office in N’Djamena on @DDCTchad and @CooperationSuisseTchad and the Consul-General in Lagos and me on LinkedIn Profile.

Thank you for your interest.

Yours sincerely,

Patrick Egloff
