On behalf of my team, I welcome you to the website of the Consulate General of Switzerland in Lagos.

Switzerland after 12 years of absence in the big metropolis and economic nerve of the country has once again opened a new professional representation in Lagos, in the form of a Consulate General which will essentially deal with economic issues and will work very tight with Switzerland Global Enterprise, the Swiss institution which is in charge of the promotion of the Swiss economy abroad.

Indeed the commercial relations between Switzerland and Nigeria are already excellent; our objective is to improve the economic relations. There are about 40 Swiss companies present in the country, but the potentials of the giant of Africa, with a population of over 180 million people, are enormous and should therefore attract more investors. Nigeria is the country on the continent where one should be and Lagos is the economic capital not only of Nigeria, but of the entire sub-Saharan region.

Despite the economic aspect, the doors of the Consulate General will of course be always opened for the Swiss citizens even if we will not issue Swiss passports or any other documents as well as visas. This kind of services remains in Abuja.  But the Consulate General would serve as a bridge between the Swiss community living in Lagos and the Embassy in Abuja and would of course render assistance to our citizens in case of necessity.

Switzerland is sharing the premises of the Consulate General with our very close friends of Denmark as it is also the case in Abuja. We are located in the same building, using the same entrance and security system. Our collaboration is excellent. The atmosphere of cooperation with the Danish is very friendly and welcoming.

You will find in the website a lot of details about Switzerland, the Nigeria – Switzerland bilateral relations as well as information about the services that the Swiss representations in Nigeria are offering.

Thank you for your interest and best regards.
