This year marks a significant milestone as Switzerland and Nepal celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations. Since the establishment of official ties in 1956, our relationship has been built on mutual respect, trust, and close cooperation, evolving into a strong and lasting partnership.

Over the decades, our cooperation has spanned governance, human rights and peacebuilding, rural infrastructure, vocational education and private sector development, as well as humanitarian assistance, contributing to meaningful and lasting impacts for communities across Nepal. As the Swiss Ambassador to Nepal, I am committed to continuing the excellent partnership between our two countries and to further strengthening our bilateral ties.

As we look to the future, Switzerland’s priorities include further supporting Nepal’s journey towards a democratic and prosperous society, as well as promoting sustainable economic growth and gender equality. We also look forward to enhancing our cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties, which form an important part of our friendship.
