Switzerland will participate at the Pune International Film Festival, which opens on 8th January 2015. This year the Swiss focus will be on four women directors who have looked at different aspects of human relationships and life.

The films being screened under the section Global cinema are:

1993: after the Siege of Dubrovnik. 14-year-old Linda has moved back to Croatia from Switzerland with her father. Her new best friend Eta takes her up to the forbidden forest above the city. The two girls become entangled in an obsessive, sexually charged game of swapping identities that leads to a fatal fall. The following morning Linda comes back alone; slowly she begins to take Eta’s place in her family. Ivo, Eta's boyfriend, is drawn in as well. In troubled times dominated by women and the losses they have suffered in the war, Linda threatens to lose her footing, becoming entrapped in another world on the edge, a world in which Eta keeps coming back to confront her with herself. www.cure-film.com

While preparing Christmas dinner, Lena finds out that her husband cheats on her with prostitutes. Judith, the social worker who takes care of prostitutes, is living her sexual fantasy with a policeman in a hotel suite. Rolf, a recovering alcoholic is trying to fix his relationship with his daughter. Maria wants to seduce Juan who still can't forget his wife. André is 55 and still lives with his 80-year-old mother Louise, an actress. He leads an unspectacular life as a taxi driver and cannot seem to muster the courage to speak to the woman working at the wurst stand at the model aircraft flying field. A stranger appears at their door one day: Bill, a charismatic man from America about to turn their placid life upside down. Sister, Ursula Meier

Simon lives with his older sister in a housing complex below a luxury Swiss ski resort. With his sister drifting in and out of jobs and relationships, 12-year-old Simon takes on the responsibility of providing for the two of them. Every day, he takes the lift up to the opulent ski world above, stealing equipment from rich tourists to resell to the local kids down in the valley. He is able to keep their little family afloat with his small-time hustles and his sister is thankful for the money he brings in. But, when Simon partners with a crooked British seasonal worker, he begins to lose his boundaries, affecting his relationship with his sister and plummeting him into dangerous territory.

The festival will also witness for the first time presence of a very well-known film personality as member of Jury of the festival. Marcel Gisler, born in 1960 in Altstätten, Switzerland, lives since 1981 lives in Berlin. He studied drama and philosophy at the Freie Universität Berlin. Since 1985 he works as producer, screenwriter, director and as lecturer at various film schools in Switzerland and Germany. He is recipient of the 1999 Swiss Film Award, best fiction film for “F. est un salaud” and in 2013 was awarded the Zurich Film Award for “Rosie”.
