Temporary passport

In an emergency the Swiss representation responsible for your place of stay can prepare a provisional passport (emergency passport) on the spot with a minimum of delay. Information on provisional passports will be found on the following website:

Please note that the Embassy of Switzerland in Paris issues temporary passports only in case of an absolute emergency (e.g. travel in case of death or accident with appropriate documentation) and upon prior appointment. For all non-emergency travel (private and business), please contact the emergency passport offices at Swiss airports in Zurich, Geneva or Basel. No temporary passport will be issue for passports left at home.

Travel to the United Kingdom:

Travelers with Swiss citizenship require a valid passport to enter the United Kingdom. Entry with an Swiss identity card is not possible. The passport must be shown upon boarding the Eurostar train or when embarking at the ferry port. If you do not have a valid passport, please contact your cantonal passport office or the emergency passport offices at the Swiss airports in Zurich, Geneva or Basel. The Embassy of Switzerland in Paris does not issue temporary passports for travels to the United Kingdom.
