Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear Friends of Switzerland,

A very warm welcome from the entire team at the Embassy of Switzerland in Addis Ababa!

It is a great honor for me, as Ambassador, to represent Switzerland in a region known for its rich cultural and historical heritage, its diversity – and its outstanding cuisine, a favorite in my family! I am delighted to build on the long-standing partnership between Switzerland and Ethiopia, as well as with Djibouti, South Sudan, and our multilateral partners: the African Union (AU), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

2025 marks 70 years of Switzerland’s diplomatic presence in Ethiopia—seven decades of friendship and people-to-people exchanges across diplomacy and development. Looking ahead, we are strengthening economic ties. Switzerland’s international cooperation in Addis is further evolving into a regional center of expertise – a hub for sharing knowledge and shaping global solutions through regional perspectives. This transformation mirrors the multilateral importance of Addis Ababa as a strategic counterpart to International Geneva. In South Sudan, our Cooperation Office in Juba works on food security and livelihoods, protection of civilians, human rights, and peacebuilding. Together with our Honorary Consul we strengthen bilateral ties in Djibouti.

Whether you are a Swiss citizen, a partner, or simply curious about Switzerland and our work – this site is for you. You will find everything from visa and consular services to updates about our activities. Our teams in Addis, Juba and Djibouti are here to assist you, with many services also available anytime via our Online Desk.
