UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development 1-2 March 2018

Sustainable Development is a core principle in Switzerland and the Swiss Federal Council follows the Agenda 2030 closely. Ambassador Michael Gerber, Switzerland’s Special Envoy for Global Sustainable Development, will be the chair of this year’s United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Regional Forum.

The UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (1-2 March 2018, Geneva) reviews the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals. This forum provides an opportunity for government representatives and stakeholders from international organizations, civil society and the private sector to discuss and compare policy solutions, best practices and remaining challenges.
 
Peer learning round tables will discuss the following five Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG 6:     Ensure universal access to water and balance competing needs

  • SDG 7:     Improve the efficiency of the energy system and transform energy

  • SDG 11:    Finance and promote the transition to sustainable cities and communities

  • SDG 12:    Deliver on sustainable consumption and production and create a circular economy

  • SDG 15:    Realize sustainable forest management and preserve biodiversity
