Implementation Maputo Peace Accord

This project continues the support to the implementation of the Maputo Peace Accord between the ruling party (Frelimo) and the opposition party (Renamo) which was brokered by Switzerland in 2019. The priority is the Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reinsertion (DDR) of the 5'221 ex-combatants, which should be finalized by the end of 2023. This will be followed by a phasing out and handing-over of remaining aspects of the Accord to suitable government or other structures until 2024.

Central Asia: Gender and DRR Study 2022

This study will focus on understanding the relevance and influence of gender dynamics on Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) measures in Central Asia. It aims to garner practical insights that are useful to rendering Switzerland's and partners' work in the areas of DRM more gender-sensitive, and to explore the potential for DRM activities to have a gender-transformative impact in order to inform sustainable humanitarian and development interventions.

Bangladesh Primary and Environmental Health in Ukhia

Switzerland through the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) and its partners, contributes to improved personal and environmental health of Rohingya refugees and their host community in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar district. Aligned with one of Switzerland’s focus on human rights-based quality services in Bangladesh, SRC will a) be running five primary health centres and plan a sustainable takeover b) set-up a sustainable solid waste management, whenever possible c) and promote health literacy.
Myanmar: Fostering Food Security, Food Systems and Inclusive Business Programme (FOSTER)

COVID-19 and the military coup have had a significant negative impact on the food security and economic resilience of the people of Myanmar. FOSTER addresses both issues in an innovative way, engaging with the private sector and civil society in conflict and crisis-affected areas and combining emergency relief activities with longer-term market system and skills development initiatives, which is an opportunity for Switzerland to test new initiatives to stay engaged.

Disaster Risk Governance in Central America - Final phase

Central America is vulnerable to climate change and climate variability, as well as to other - geological - hazards that endanger the lives of nearly 10 million people and the economic development of the region. The program improves the governance of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and disaster response at the regional and national levels to increase the effectiveness of risk management in general to leave no one behind and save lives.

Strengthening WASH and Protection capacities in health centres in Apure State Venezuela

Since 2020 HEKS/EPER provides immediate assistance to most vulnerable households in rural and peri-urban areas in the Apure state in the sector of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. Through this project, HEKS aims to guarantee WASH quality services in 18 health centres in Apure state and to reach a total of 227’350 direct beneficiaries. HEKS implements its operations in alignment with the United Nation’s Humanitarian Response Plan for Venezuela 2022–2023.
SDG Impact Finance Initiative

The overall goal of the SDG Impact Finance Initiative (SIFI) is to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing countries by enabling innovative and scalable impact investment solutions. In addition, SIFI supports the development of suitable framework conditions for impact investing in Switzerland. SIFI wiII foster Switzerland’s role as the leading global hub for impact investments and has the ambition to directly mobilize investments of up to CHF 1 billion by 2030.
Soft earmarked contribution to Interagency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE)

Emergencies and protracted crises are major education barriers for children and youth and for reaching the Education Goal (SDG 4) of the Agenda 2030. The multi-stakeholder Interagency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) is the global lead in policy dialogue and practice for education during crises. Through its engagement with INEE, Switzerland contributes to shape dialogue, enhance knowledge, strengthen capacity for Education in Emergencies and crisis-resilient education systems, and to affirm the international Geneva as a major platform for the topic.

Swiss Contribution to the High-Level Panel on IDPs – Office of the Special Adviser for Solutions to Internal Displacement

In 2022, internal displacement has reached an all-time high of 59.1 million people. Following the report of the High Level Panel on Internal Displacement (the Panel) in 2019, the UNSG issued an Action Agenda featuring concrete follow-up commitments by UN system entities as well as calls on other key stakeholders, including Member States and International Financial Institutions to step up efforts to advance solutions to internal displacement. In order to oversee this process bringing together humanitarian, development and peace actors, a Special Adviser on Solutions to internal displacement was appointed. The Swiss contribution to the Office of the Special Adviser (OSA) builds on its contribution to the Panel’s work, thus linking Switzerland’s engagement at country, regional and global level.
HoA, Culture for Peace

The Culture for Peace (C4P) Programme in the Horn of Africa (HoA), seeks to safeguard cultural heritage while fostering economic opportunities in the region. The initiative supports local cultural entities, enhancing livelihoods through market-driven interventions by working with the youth, women and marginalized groups. By preserving both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, Switzerland contributes to improved social cohesion thus contributing to peace and stability across the region.
Skills for Employment Tanzania (SET)

The project enhances youth (self-) employment by improving the Vocational Skills Development system. It supports the government and private stakeholders to expand access to quality training that matches the demand from both the economy and youth. Building on Swiss expertise, the project improves relevance of labour market data for curricula development, enhances the quality of vocational teachers, and provides access to tailored practical vocational trainings for youth, in particular women, including young mothers.

Appui à l’opérationnalisation de la stratégie nationale de lutte contre les violences faites aux femmes en Tunisie

Le projet propose d’appuyer le ministère de la Femme tunisien (MF) dans l’opérationnalisation de la « stratégie nationale de lutte contre les violences à l’encontre des femmes (SLVF) » par la mise en place d’une coordination institutionnalisée entre acteurs publics et la société civile et l’amélioration du mécanisme d’orientation et prise en charge des victimes. Des activités de réflexions, de concertation, de renforcement de capacités, d’étude, de communication, de benchmark, de plaidoyer et de sensibilisation seront mises en oeuvre par Euromed Rights.
