Contribution to NEAR (Network for Empowered Aid Response) 2024-2025

The Network for Empowered Aid Response (NEAR) is a consortium of local organizations that aims at shaping an international cooperation system where local communities are empowered to address the challenges that impact their own communities. The network is composed of local and national civil society organizations from the Global South rooted in their communities. It focuses on genuine local participation at all levels to ensure effective aid is delivered.

UN Global Compact Core Contribution 2024-2025

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is the largest corporate responsibility initiative worldwide, and one of the most successful UN-Private Sector partnerships. Switzerland has been a major supporter of the UNGC from its inception in 2000 and, with this ninth phase core contribution, is supporting the implementation of the UNGC’s 2021-2025 strategy, with a focus on its activities in Africa.


Contributions 2024 to ICRC Country Programs in protracted crises

The ICRC is the most important partner of SDC in the humanitarian field. About one third of the SDC Humanitarian Aid budget is allocated to the ICRC. The contribution of CHF 56 million to ICRC country programs reflects Switzerland’s interest to have a strong ICRC throughout the world and to contribute to alleviate the suffering of people affected by conflicts.


Additional Non-Earmarked Allocation in 2024 to ICRC Operations

SDC funding to ICRC most underfunded operations allows the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to provide immediate protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises.


Safeguard Young People (SYP) - Tanzania

Safeguard Young People Programme

With 62% of its population below 25 years, the Safeguard Young People (SYP) programme supports Tanzania’s demographic dividend. The project advances young people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) through a gender-responsive and inclusive policy environment, empowered youth who make informed decisions, and responsive health and education systems. SYP builds on 10 years of regional experience and UNFPA’s expertise.

UNICEF, EMOPS Geneva, Core Contribution 2024-2025

The Office of Emergency Programmes (EMOPS) ensures that the United Nations Children’s Fund’s (UNICEF) role in complex emergencies is clearly defined, the organization properly equipped and prepared to deliver its mandate to support the needs of children. SDC’s support to EMOPS in Geneva enables UNICEF to lead inter-agency humanitarian coordination, response and standard setting in Water and Sanitation (WASH), Education, Nutrition and Child Protection.


Contribution to Medicus Mundi Switzerland (MMS) Network

Medicus Mundi Switzerland is a Network of 49 Swiss non-governmental organisations, foundations and scientific institutions involved in health advocacy at global level and health programmes in lowand middle-income countries. Taking a multisectoral approach and fostering open dialogue with relevant actors, decision-makers and the broader public, the Network facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experience and contributes to finding solutions to global health challenges.


CABI PlantwisePlus

PlantwisePlus is a global programme that is supporting countries and farmers to predict, prevent and prepare themselves for plant health threats in a changing climate. This will allow farmers to reduce their crop losses and produce more and safer food using agroecological and climate-smart practices that safeguard human health and biodiversity. The programme is implemented by CABI, a leading intergovernmental research and development organization in plant health, with research facilities in Switzerland.

Projet d’assistance aux politiques en matière de sécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle, et transformation des systèmes agroalimentaires

La Feuille de route nationale sur les systèmes alimentaires, la Loi d’orientation agro-sylvo-pastorale et halieutique et la politique semencière sont des documents stratégiques sectorielles importants dans la projection de la politique du gouvernement dont la DDC a contribué à leur élaboration. En soutenant l’élaboration des textes d’application et l’appui au processus d’adoption desdits textes, la Suisse contribue aux réformes diverses permettant d’accélérer les transformations souhaitées pour améliorer les systèmes alimentaires.

Acceptabilité humanitaire au Burkina Faso

La crise humanitaire au Burkina Faso continue de s’aggraver, les populations souffrent des violations de leurs droits. Le contexte opérationnel est tendu, l’accès humanitaire et la protection de l’espace humanitaire sont remis en question. Le projet vise à préserver les principes humanitaires et l’accès aux populations vulnérables en renforçant la coordination civilo-militaire, l’accès, l’engagement communautaire et la redevabilité envers les communautés affectées.

Tchad IOM Contribution Sudan crisis 2023

This contribution aims at supporting IOM’s response to the needs of Chadian returnees having fled Sudan. IOM’s emergency response supports the returnees’ households through a nexus approach, which combines emergency humanitarian assistance (shelter, NFIs, etc,) and livelihood support to reduce their dependency on humanitarian assistance, therefore contributing to local and more sustainable development.


Land and Natural Resources Local Governance (LAGO)

Switzerland will contribute to good governance of land in Niassa province through strategic partners, who will provide technical assistance to local authorities in land registration, help ensure that the use of land and natural resources benefits the local population, and advocate for a legal system that protects the rights of the local population to the use of land and natural resources, based on Mozambican legislation and international best practices.
