The SABA Water and Sanitation Experience: Boosting Impact at Global Scale

01.05.2012 - 31.08.2016

For one of the first time in its history, SDC can exert important leverage effects – with little funding – upon nation-wide and international scaling up operations in Peru. The Global Program Water Initiatives decided to support this new generation of projects to demonstrate how SDC can generate added value and influence the global debate. The Peruvian authorities want to capitalize on SDC 15-year experience in rural water and sanitation in rural areas for boosting full national coverage of such services. This initiative is a new generation of projets required to respond: to the water& sanitation MDG’s water related targets and to the human right to access to water & sanitation.

Surveys of protected species in Vas, Zala and Somogy

01.05.2012 - 31.12.2016

When the Natura 2000 sites in the counties Vas, Zala and Somogy were designated, several species have not been surveyed at all or just incompletely. This project fills this gap by surveying 90 data-deficient species (amphibians, reptiles, bats, butterflies, dragonflies, xilophag insects). Based on this data, protection measures are proposed which will contribute to the conservation of the Natura 2000 sites.

Surveillance Environnementale au Sahel

01.05.2012 - 30.09.2017

The World Bank’s Multi-donor Trust Fund: The Global Knowledge Partnership on Migration and Development KNOMAD

01.05.2012 - 31.08.2019

Migration and development is an integral part of the global political agenda. The knowledge available to enrich international processes such as the post-2015 debate and substantiate policy developments at national level, remains however scattered. Such knowledge needs global anchoring and capacities to be produced, processed and disseminated. Switzerland is taking a lead role in addressing this situation by supporting as first donor the Global Knowledge Partnership on Migration and Development (KNOMAD), which will become an indispensable source for all stakeholders.

WASH Programme 1st Phase

01.05.2012 - 31.12.2013

Sanitation, in contrary to water, is not an official priority and is often even not mentioned by national or local authorities. Since human excreta is the major source of contamination of water, soil, food and peoples' environment, without proper disposal of human excreta no remedy will help reduce the diarrheal diseases.
