The Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children

The new Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children is designed as a means of implementing the Agenda 2030 / Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular the aspects related to protecting children from violence, abuse, exploitation, neglect, trafficking, torture, child labor, child marriage, and Female Genital Mutilation. Its vision is a world in which every child grows up free from violence by 2030. For this purpose the partnership aims to make societies safer for children and end violence against children everywhere.

The Partnership will engage governments, civil society, academics, young people, the UN, the private sector and others in efforts to keep children safe. It provides a global platform to share lessons learned and best practices, and to facilitate greater cooperation and coordination of common efforts. A set of seven evidence based strategies (INSPIRE) form the basis of all three goals. Pathfinding countries will be early adopters of the Partnership strategy and the seven strategies.

UNICEF is housing the Secretariat for this initiative, together with serving as the fiscal agent for an associated trust fund.

Fonds d’Appui au Développement des Communes (FADeC)

Le Fonds d’Appui au Développement des Communes (FADeC) est le mécanisme de transferts de ressources aux communes béninoises. La contribution à la dotation non affectée permettra de réduire le niveau de pauvreté par l’amélioration de l’accès aux services sociaux de base (constructions des infrastructures scolaires et sanitaires) et la valorisation des potentialités économiques des communes (infrastructures marchandes).

Renforcement d’IDEA phase Unique (RIDEAU)

Le programme d’IDEA en Haïti vise le renforcement des institutions (p. ex. Parlement) et des acteurs politiques (p. ex. partis), piliers institutionnels de l’état de droit. Ce faisant IDEA contribue à bâtir une gouvernance nationale respectueuse de la participation citoyenne et paritaire entre les femmes et les hommes. La DDC apporte une contribution générale à IDEA avec un suivi particulier sur la participation politiques des femmes et sur les pratiques de reddition des comptes.

SDG Implementation Support Office in Geneva

This contribution aims to strengthen the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through the establishment of a Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Implementation Support Office at the United Nations Office in Geneva. This office that will enable leveraging of the technical know-how and expertise in International Geneva, by better connecting the Geneva actors locally, with United Nations Headquarters and other duty stations of the UN system.

NRC Appui au relèvement Ndélé

Par son appui financier au projet de NRC, la DDC participe à l’amélioration de la sécurité alimentaire et des conditions de vie de populations les plus vulnérables, dans la préfecture de la Bamingui Bangoran, au nord-est de la RCA, par le rétablissement des moyens de subsistance et la réduction de l’impact des maladies liées à l’eau et assainissement. Le projet se déroule dans une zone de grandes tensions dues à une multitude de facteurs et applique des techniques sensibles au conflit d’une manière systématique

UNICEF Secondment – Protection Specialist

The combination of very high non-conventional violence, coupled with the outbreak of Zika virus and the effects of El Nino is leading to very serious humanitiaran consequences for thousands of Salvadorians. The combination of the new emergency and the issues related to humanitarian access require to combine the humanitarian coordination of the sectored based response to contribute to reduce the humanitarian consequences of violence in the El Salvador people.

Schweizerische Allianzmission - Food Aid Swiss Dairy Products (Guinea Conakry)

Through the usage of food aid in the form of Swiss dairy products, Swiss Humanitarian Aid contributes to the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, undernourishment, and disease. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid administers the credit granted by parliament for a yearly amount of some CHF 20 million destined for the purchase of Swiss dairy products and their use for the benefit of the needy. Its task is to ensure a sustainable, targeted, and closely monitored food aid.

NRC: Protection Cluster Support 2016

Prolonged conflict has led to high levels of insecurity and displacement in South Sudan. This does not only require humanitarians to scale up and coordinate their interventions, but to also be creative and knowledgeable enough to respond to the needs of and provide protection to the affected populations. This is the third phase of a project that aims to improve contextual understanding among humanitarian actors and decision-makers in South Sudan in order to enable a more strategic and effective response, through independent protection and conflict analysis.

Strengthening citizen rights and participation in Nicaragua

SDC and other like-minded donors are engaged in enhancing the democratic and public policy processes in Nicaragua. A strong civil society is essential to the quality and sustainability of this effort. The current political context drastically reduces public policy dialogues spaces. The proposed programme will promote citizen participation, strengthen capacities among Civil Society Organizations and foster informed policy dialogue.

Darfur Community Peace and Stability Fund (DCPSF)

The Darfur Community Peace and Stability Fund (DCPSF) is a UNDP managed trust fund for Darfur. The latter exists since 2007. It supports community-level peacebuilding activities and fosters social cohesion. Results show that conflicts are reduced and livelihoods as well as access to basic services are enhanced. It synergizes the undertakings with other multilateral humanitarian funding tools and operations of other partners. Last but not least the DCPSF accelerates transition from relief to recovery.

UNDP - Strengthening Disaster Risk Governance in Tajikistan (SDRGT)

01.08.2016 - 31.10.2020

Due to frequent occurrence of natural disasters the Government has endorsed number of laws and regulations, and developed relevant structure for DRM. However, the disaster risk governance requires further improvement. The project will assist the Government to expand approaches to risk governance at the national level involving the Government, civil society and the international community and improving local risk governance using risk assessments and risk informed land use planning targeting land owners and users.

Libano: istruzione e sanità in un quartiere in cui coabitano libanesi, siriani e palestinesi

Gli abitanti del quartiere di Hay el Gharbé nella zona sud di Beirut vivono in situazioni molto precarie. Dal 2012 nella zona sono arrivati anche molti profughi siriani. La DSC sostiene Tahaddi, una ONG libanese, il cui lavoro fa veramente la differenza per le persone che risiedono in questa periferia della città. Il suo centro educativo per esempio ha permesso a molte bambine e molti bambini di riprendere la scuola e di uscire dalla miseria.
